how to measure

Dazzler Design Group costumes are made to fit the measurements you supply, growing room will not be allowed.  Some general tips when measuring for your custom costume are to have someone else to measure you (DO NOT measure yourself).  Wear tight fitting clothing such has a leotard, tight tank top & bike shorts, or even undergarments such as bra & underpants.  Stand up straight looking straight ahead with waist relaxed (do not suck-in waist) & feet shoulder distance apart.  It is always a good idea to have the person measure you at least twice to be sure there were no mistakes in reading the measurements (misreading a tape measure is very easy to do.).

When ordering custom costumes for GROUPS we recommend that one person measure the whole group.

Dazzler Design Group will need BUST, WAIST, HIPS, & GIRTH measurements for all costumes.  For costumes with sleeves we will also need SLEEVE LENGTH, UPPER ARM, ELBOW, FOREARM, & WRIST measurements.  The AGE & HEIGHT is also needed to help with the proportion and fit of your custom costume.  When ordering a two-piece costume additional measurements will be needed.  Please contact Dazzler Design Groups if you have any questions on how to measure.

1.  BUST
Measure around the back and across the bust line.
Tape should be parallel around the bust and shoulder blades in back.

2.  WAIST
Measure around the “natural” waistline, the narrowest area
between the belly button and bottom of rib cage.

3.  HIPS
Measure around the widest part of your rear end, keeping
the tape parallel to the floor.

4.  GIRTH
Start measuring at front top shoulder, over bust, thru the crotch,
up the back to shoulder at the same point.  Press tape against the
small of the back.  Measure both right & left girth, there is usually
a difference in measurement; we will fit to the larger measurement.

5.  SLEEVE LENGTH (FROM CENTER BACK NECK)
With arm slightly bent measure from center back neck to shoulder
following arm to wrist bone.

6.  UPPER ARM
Measure around the upper arm about an inch below armpit.

7.  ELBOW
Measure around the elbow with arm straight.

8.  FOREARM
Measure around the forearm, between elbow and wrist.

9.  WRIST
Measure around the wrist at the wrist bone.

10.  CHEST
Measure right below bust line keeping tape parallel, this
measurement is at the bottom of your bra.  This measurement
is needed for a two-pieces bra style top.

11.    RISE
Measure at front where you want the top of the waistband to start,
thru the crotch, up to where the top of back waistband end.
This measurement is needed for a two-piece costume.

12.  NECK
Measure around base of the neck.  This measurement is needed
for costumes with high or turtle necks.
